BLOG

This holiday I tried to pick up things for people that felt sort of luxurious and special but people would actually use them. Fancy pants basics if you will. I tend to go for the quirky or funny gifts so it was a fun challenge to find things people would use and hopefully love. Limiting myself to local shops, the holiday Renegade Craft Fair, and Etsy didn’t end up feel limiting.

The one exception that I’m super excited about, is the miniature orange tree we’re getting for our apartment. Inspired by the wine shop in our neighborhood I found Four Winds Growers that also carry lemon, lime, and even kumquats. It will give us enough citrus to keep us in old-fashioneds year round!

I haven’t been making as much jewelry for a while, so it was lovely to be gifted a few pieces. They’ve already been added to the everyday rotation.

A few things given + received from some of my favorite makers:

Mast Brothers Chocolate bars, Rodin face oil for Mom, a belt from Billykirk, a tiny crocodile hat for an expecting pal, Rifle notebooks from Catbird, a custom illustration of my sister’s cat, Lauren Wolfe studs, a vintage pocket knife, miniature orange tree, and Giles and Brother cuff from my sister since I interned there when I first lived in New York and never bought anything. I was much better at budgeting then.
